Constipation in Breastfeed Babies?
Last week was a crazy week...we had a birthday party, a baptism, and the kids were on Spring Break. We made it, but I did drink a ton of diet Pepsi. I don't think that increase in caffiene was good on Maeve's stomach. She isn't particularly fussy, but she has significantly decreased bowel movements. She's only a month old and I am hoping that change in diet didn't mess with her GI tract. Does anyone know if a breastfed baby can get constipated? None of my other four kids ever were irregular unless they were sick. I checked into this on line with Dr. Sear's. I tried the warm bath with stomach massage. I have a call into my pediatrician re: this question too.

Hey there! Did you ever get an answer to your question? It's quite normal for the bowels to slow down at about a month old, to the point where they can even go a while (the longest I've heard was 10 days) without pooping, especially EBF babies. If her poops are paste-like and she really struggles to get them out, I'd encourage a little more time at the breast, after all it's the best laxative around!
