How long should I breastfeed my baby? Even the experts can't agree!

In an age of instant information, it is not an uncommon occurrence: I do a google search on a set of keywords and find two "experts" with very different opinions. Such was the case this morning as I looked at the daily breastfeeding news. One study out of England seems to fly in the face of the World Health Organization's recommendations to breastfeed for the first 2 years. The WHO's recommendation states that there are health benefits for baby and mom related to extended breastfeeding. The second study I looked at from London posited that exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months may not even be necessary for the baby to get the health benefits of nursing. So, what's up with that? How do you handle getting such differing information? How does it effect your parenting choices?

You nurse to give your baby the best, let Modest Middles help you look great doing it!~Amy

My daughter just turned 1 yr on the 17th. We have never used bottles or formula. I EBF her as well. This is the first time I was able to do so out of 4 kids. I know one day she will wean herself, when she does that's when we will stop. My daughter also is the happiest baby I have ever had and never cries (not once at night since I have had her). She sleeps with me and eats all night Her and I are the closest we could be and even if she still wants to nurse at 2 it's fine with me. She has only been sick once even when we all have gotten sick she didn't. I'm really passionate about bfing and tell all expecting moms how wonderful and benefiting it isOne of my friends who decided it wasn't for her calls me the bfing guru lol
