Here's a great article that talks about the benefits financially and healthwise of breastfeeding exclusively for at least 6 months.Breastfeeding is not only important healthwise for babies, but it also has many benefits for moms (lowers risk of cancer, post-pardum depression, etc.). On top of all the health benefits, breastfeeding is an emotional experience with the baby. I am pregnant with my 6th and breastfed the other 5. It wasn't always easy, but the baby and I figured it out pretty quickly. I'd encourage any mom who is having difficulty nursing to contact a lactation consultant. Even one visit can make a huge difference. Breastfeeding makes a mom's life easier-it's always the right temperature, clean and doesn't require anything else in the diaper bag. My advice is to get a nursing bra that fits really well and is comfortable and a Modest Middles Nursing Undershirt =)
